About
A George Floyd memorial event and honoring the new chapter of social justice, the Phoenix from the fire, we will put up a Dakota tipi on the site of the Gandhi Mahal garden, a valued Indian restaurant that burned in the aftermath of the George Floyd killing. We are creating a community gathering with food and an artistic performance on the one year anniversary of the uprising. Oyate Hotanin collaborates with Gandhi Mahal, Pangea World Theater and Lake Street Creates on this vision to illuminate the permanency of transitions clearly, by taking old cultures and past events that are going to be realized in the future, and announcing and celebrating them at the same time we commemorate a tragic event. A tipi is a building too. The past meets then and now. Rebirth is like a phoenix rising out of the fire.
