​For over 30 years, Pangea World Theater has been preparing theater arts professionals through internships, mentoring, fellowships, cohorts, and institutes. As we enter an exciting time in our growth as a theater organization, we are excited to begin a new opportunity through these apprenticeships – providing hands-on training to early-career professionals in the field of theater. 

 

ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP

Community Arts Development Apprentices will gain a holistic understanding of and hands-on professional development in our decolonized practices and ensemble-based theater through engagement in all our programming both locally (in the Twin Cities and on Lake Street) and on a national scale. Over the course of the two years, apprentices will develop skills in leadership, community engagement and organizing, theater production, production management, community arts facilitation, and arts management.

 

KEY PROJECTS

Community Arts Development Apprentices will assist the Pangea staff in all aspects of our work from productions to community-arts programming. Below are a few key projects apprentices will get to work on:

• Liberating Spaces program: Assist in coordinating a national cohort of theater practitioners. Assist to convene local artists, gathering data around needs and visions for the field; and culminate in a national symposium and theater festival. 

• Fall and Spring productions: Assist in all aspects of production while learning how we decolonise our rehearsal, production, and administrative practices

• Lake Street Arts! programs: Assist in grassroots theater-related activities for residents of the Lake Street neighborhoods in Minneapolis. 

• Education Programs: Hands-on experience working closely with the Education Manager on year-round programming including youth camps, workshops, and residencies, and matinees. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree, degree-in-process, or similar post-secondary experience

• History of work with theaters or arts organizations; social justice or community organizing experience a strong plus

• Collaborative mindset with a self-starter capability; excellent planning and time management skills

• Ability to work with a wide range of people and to manage competing priorities

• Basic customer service and office skills; we will train on specific Pangea processes
   

DURATION

• September 2026 - June 2028 (Pangea’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons)

• Two part-time positions (15hr/week); mainly daytime hours with some nights and weekends
   

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• $300 per week as a W2 employee

• Benefits include: Professional development opportunities, complimentary tickets, Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST), and four weeks off between mid-December and mid-January annually.
